Shady spot

I didn't get nearly as much done this week as I was hoping to. I'm not sure if it's the result of whatever automated process that the site uses going wonky, or if the model I've been building just has something fundamentally wrong with it, but for whatever reason, Mixamo was not able to handle automatically rigging my rubberhose cartoon character. It had no idea what to do with the tail, which wasn't entirely unexpected, but it particularly kept mangling the arms and hands. It's kind of weird that, for all that three-fingered hands were originally used to simplify animation, this website to automatically rig 3D character models couldn't handle them.
I did get some work done though. I added Blender's built-in toon shaders to my model's colors, and it really works extremely well. You can see the results below.
The toon shader really does make the inkblot style pop I think, and I'm super glad it was pointed out to me. I'm still not done with this model though. Since Mixamo couldn't handle it, I'll have to manually rig it. And a couple of things were suggested to me that would allow the model to be even more expressive.
For now though, that's everything.
