Level Up

Most of this week was spent on sprucing up the existing levels.



The starting areas of levels one and three were extremely cluttered, due to my testing gameplay features out in them. These have been cleaned out, though in the case of level three, I took inspiration to teach the player about water and spring mechanics.



The second half of level three was redone to illustrate how breakable platforms worked, and to teach players how to use the rocketpack, which is required to proceed.



For Level Two, the bottomless pit at the start was filled in and replaced with a cliff that demonstrates how hidden areas work. To reach the coins, the player has to jump for them, and the most likely outcome is that they'll land in the hidden area without knowing that it's there, letting them know to keep an eye out for such places.


The car at the end, which the player could jump on to kill the spiked enemies littering the ground throughout most of the level, was also replaced with a flamethrower which can be used to do the same thing. The flamethrower is also needed in order to pass by a new enemy without taking damage.



The Roadblock is a simple enemy that, instead of moving around the level, simply stays in place, and jumps to match the player's height. This means that you need a projectile of some sort to take it out safely.
