Make Mine Music

By this point, most of the graphics have been replaced (with one notable exception that you might see if you lose all of your lives), so I've felt like it was time to move on to working on the sounds in the game. Specifically, the music. Up to now, I've been using the theme from Super Mario World. But while it's a nice piece of music, it doesn't quite fit the tone of the game that I'm going for, and of course, it's owned by Nintendo.
After browsing Pixabay for royalty free music, I found a suitable replacement; Saloon Piano Ragtime, by FreeGroove. You can give it a listen here. I really like it, and I feel like it fits the black and white cartoon feel that I'm going for. In addition to ragtime, I think it'd be great if future levels could have jazz or big band music as well.

The Super Mario Theme has been replaced.
In the following weeks, I will be working on updating the rest of the sounds, and tweaking the music so that it loops more smoothly.
