This week, I was nearly able to get back to my previous rate of progress. The model that I'm working on is nearly finished.
In these screenshots, I have added eyes to the head. Or rather, the spot where the eyes will be painted on. Using the knife tool, I essentially traced out where they would go, and, once the mesh was complete, adjusted the angle to everything so it wouldn't look -quite- like the eyes were just painted onto a smooth surface.
In this step, I've finally started adding color to the model, by painting directly onto the mesh. This was actually pretty easy. The trickiest part of it was making sure that all of the faces that were meant to be colored were selected; it can be surprisingly easy to miss some if they're small or in an awkward part of the mesh.
Finally, in this last set of images, I've added a sweater over the regular outfit. This was accomplished by selecting most of the faces that made up the torso and arms, setting their vertices to not merge, and then duplicating and scaling them out slightly. This created a separate object that still followed the base model, and could be turned on and off at will.
That's all for this week.
