Rocket Launch

This week I finished and implemented all of the animations for the rocketpack powerup, as well as added a mechanic for implementing hidden areas into the levels.


When in use, the rocketpack looks like this. As with the flamethrower, I went with a bit of a Megaman inspired look. The top set of sprites are what the player character looks like under full flight, which lasts for a few seconds, while the bottom is what happens when the rockets are running on fumes.


There are also, of course, a full set of sprites for each movement action the player is able to take, just like with the flamethrower upgrade.


In addition to these, there are more for when the player is jumping, wall sliding, etc.


One last addition that I made this week is a mechanic that allows for secret areas to be implemented into the level design.


Whenever the player finds one of these, they'll be able to enter and the background will fade away, revealing whatever is hidden within.
